Mermaid's Shot Glass
Mermaid's Shot Glass, (Acetabularia calyculus), is a name we came up for this algae because it is closely related to the popular Mermaid's Wineglass, but is smaller. Each parasol like leaf is approximately the size of a zoa polyp, and is attached to a thin stalk around one inch tall. It comes attached to a shell, its natural habitat. It does well in full spectrum lighting, 2-4 watts per gallon, but can tolerate brighter lighting. Simply place the shell into the tank, and you are done. With this item you will receive at least 5 plants of this algae. Multiple orders may be combined on a single shell. If you would like multiple shells for a multiple item order, please let us know, and we will try to accommodate you. This macro is an extremely delicate shipper, and should be sent via Express Mail. On arrival it will appear we have just sent you a shell, you will have to place it into the water for this macro to take its true form. The caps of the algae will likely be white from shipping stress. Nothing to fear. Each sprout of Acetabularia calyculus is actually one cell, (one of the largest cells in nature), the part that matters is the part attach to the shell itself, and while that part is microscopic, if only it survives, the entire plant will do just fine. (The caps don't even matter really). Just give it some time and TLC and it will bounce back. The real indicator of its health when it arrives is whether the caps are buoyant when placed in the water. Because of its small size and relative difficulty in keeping, we think you will be much happier purchasing the mermaid's wineglass.
There is no Alive Arrival Guarantee on this item if it is not sent via Express Mail.
