The Crowned Turbo Snail, Lunella coronata, (previously named Turbo coronatus) grows to about the size of a golf ball. It is especially good at removing hair algae, but will also consume film algae and diatoms. These snails also consume some turf algae species and complex macroalgae such as Caulerpa, Ulva, Padina and Dictyota. It is a hardy snail that can be easily kept in tanks with normal water parameters, with nitrate levels lower than 40 ppm. Caution should be taken with these snails if you have unstable rock work, as they spend much of their time cleaning rocks, and can sometimes move loose rocks.
The snails we send are fairly large, about 75% of their adult size. They eat a good amount of hair algae, and if there is insufficient food in your tank they should be fed edible filamentous macro algae or seaweed sheets.
