The serpent starfish is a scavenger that will feed primarily at night. They can grow up to 6 inches in total diameter, but we generally sell them roughly about 4 inches in diameter. They use their arms to scurry about the substrate of your rocks eating leftover food and waste, and do not normally require any target feeding. They handle the job of about 5-6 nassarius snails. If you want to see your starfish, place a red light bulb next to your tank, as they are blind to red light, and will think it is still pitch black inside. Throw in some flake and your starfish will go come out to get the food.
