Blue Knuckle hermit crabs, (Calicinus elegans), make an attractive addition to the reef tank, and they are fairly effective cleaners. They will consume hair algae, cyano as well as scavenge and clean up uneaten fish food. All hermits are capable of killing snails for shells, and this is something to be mindful of. The Blue Knuckle hermit crab should be given medium to large shells to move into, as they are approximately twice the size of Blue Leg and other similarly sized hermits. This import comes to us from the South Pacific.
