Grape Caulerpa
This macroalgae grows from a "runner", a common name for the root like system that attaches the algae to the substrate. You can create multiple plants by removing the runner intact from your tank, clipping it in an area that is between two plants and reattaching the new runner to liverock or a different substrate. This macro can be safely superglued, or tied down with fishing line to hold it in place until it forms a natural attachment.
Grape Caulerpa is a prolific green macroalgae that looks great but can sometimes spread quickly. Normally, "Grape Caulerpa" is Caulerpa racemosa, or one of the variations of C. racemosa. For a long time in the hobby, Caulerpa cupressoides var. lycopodium was also sold as "Grape Caulerpa". This is the species we offer. It looks nicer, has a thick runner than can easily be pruned if it grows to far, and it doesn't creep along the rockwork. However it has the same risk of going sexual as C. racemosa. If you are new to Caulerpa please read about it in our Growing Guides Section.
This species cannot be sent to California.
