The Gaudy Clown crab (Platypodiella spectabilis) is a beautiful crab that eats Palythoas and concentrates their poison to make themselves toxic to predators. They spend a large amount of their time on their backs, exposing their abdomen, looking up in the water column for food. Their toxic nature allows them to engage in this otherwise risky behavior. They will devour Palythoas, but accept just about any protein based fish food. They appear safe around other corals, however we do not guarantee they will not eat other corals.
