This diminutive snail will spend almost all of its time underneath the sand in you tank consuming detritus, making it an excellent substrate cleaner - for its size. What sets this snail apart from the Cerith snail is that it will seek shelter not only under the sand, but under the sand underneath your live rock or decorations. We understand how hard it is to clean underneath live rock without damaging an aquarium, that is why we carry this unique species. Additionally, because of its small size your rocks and decoration are in no danger of being moved by these snails. The snail's tiny size allows it live in the low oxygen areas. However, it also limits the amount of food it will eat, and this species is not a cost effective cleaner.

We have found these snails to be quite hardy, although we have never tested their survivability in an uncycled tank. You shouldn't either. The Dwarf Planaxis Snail ranges from 1/5 of an inch to 3/8 of an inch, making it very small.
